We use privacy-first Vercel Web Analytics & Speed Insights. We do not use cross-site tracking cookies or sell reader data to third-party brokers.
Confidential Tips
Name and email fields on our tip form are optional and used solely by our editorial desks to verify leads or credit contributors.
1. Information You Voluntarily Provide
You can read every article, neighborhood guide, and deal on SuperNYC without creating an account or providing any personal information.
If you choose to submit a neighborhood tip, secret spot, or story pitch through our Submit a Tip modal or by emailing our editorial desks:
- What we collect: Your submitted venue/story details, borough, category, and—only if you choose to provide them—your name (or moniker) and email address.
- How we use it: Submissions are stored securely in our private editorial database (powered by Sanity CMS) so our editors can fact-check the tip, follow up with questions if needed, and credit you if you requested attribution.
- Spam protection: When you submit the tip form, our server briefly checks your request IP address in memory to enforce a rate limit (maximum 5 submissions per 10 minutes) and prevent automated spam. These rate-limit counters expire automatically in memory and are not permanently logged.
2. Local Browser Storage (“My NYC Reading List”)
When you click the bookmark icon on any article to save it to My NYC Reading List, SuperNYC saves that list directly inside your web browser’s localStorage under the key supernyc_saved.
This data never leaves your device, is never transmitted to SuperNYC servers, and can be cleared by you at any time with a single click using the Clear All button on the Saved Stories page.
3. Analytics & Performance Monitoring
SuperNYC uses Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand aggregate readership trends (such as which neighborhood guides or articles are most read) and to monitor page load speed across mobile and desktop devices.
- Vercel Web Analytics is cookieless and does not track individual users across different websites or days.
- All performance metrics (Core Web Vitals) are aggregated and anonymized.
- We do not run behavioral ad networks, retargeting pixels, or third-party data brokers on SuperNYC.
4. Live NYC Weather, Subway Status & Outbound Links
Our live NYC header ticker fetches current Central Park weather data (via Open-Meteo) and real-time MTA subway alerts server-side on your behalf—your browser does not make direct third-party requests to those providers.
Our articles, venue location cards, and deals link out to official restaurant websites, museum ticketing pages, Broadway lottery portals, and the MTA. When you click an external link to leave SuperNYC, that destination site’s own privacy policy governs your visit.
5. Your Rights & How to Contact Us
If you have previously submitted a tip or pitch with your name or email address and would like us to update or permanently delete your submission from our editorial records, simply email us and we will process your request promptly.
