About the D train

The D is the all-week 6th Avenue express, running from Norwood-205th Street in the Bronx down to Coney Island-Stillwell in Brooklyn via the West End line. It runs 24/7, unlike the B which it pairs with for peak capacity.

For Bronx residents along the Concourse trunk (Norwood, Fordham, Mott Haven), the D is the primary Manhattan-bound train, with about a 35-40 minute ride to Midtown.

Service patterns are relatively stable for the D — fewer service changes than the B (which alternates routes more often). The express run through 6th Avenue is the line's defining feature; weekend track work occasionally swaps it to local.
